2018 TECH SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY - Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce
UniteLA and Tech companies like Snap (maker of Snapchat), Dollar Shave Club, mitu,
Boingo Wireless and many others offer up to 100 summer internships to
students. Through a partnership with the Mayor’s Office and the Mayor’s Tech Council , this initiative is placing 100 youth interns at LA
tech companies as part of the HIRE-LA Youth Summer Program and the LA Chamber’s
Talent Challenge. LA tech companies are providing internships for community
college students to provide them with access and exposure to career learning
Choose from four general areas they are interested in having an internship (they can choose all that apply):
o Information Technology (ex: Quality Assurance, Help Desk, Connected Computing, Network Administration, Systems Analyst)
o Software Development (ex: Engineering, Web/Mobile Development, Front/Back-end Development, Product Manager)
o Design/Media Visual and Arts (ex: Graphic Designer, Production Assistant, Digital/Social Media, Marketing, Communications)
o Operations (ex: HR, Executive Team, Customer Support)

2018 SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY - City of Torrance
The City of Torrance is currently accepting applications for the Summer Volunteer Internship Program. Summer Interns work alongside dedicated City professionals to gain both academic and practical experience working in local government. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the City of Torrance and the exceptional services it provides to the community.
The goals of the program are to engage college students for the purpose of career exploration and civic engagement in public service. In addition, the Summer Intern will develop job skills, gain work experience, and build a professional network.We anticipate internship opportunities in the following City Departments: Office of the City Manager - Human Resources - Economic Development - Finance Park Services - Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center - Transit - Fleet Services - Fire - Police (Participants will also participate in career workshops and receive a behind the scenes tour of the Torrance Police and Fire Department! )
Summer Interns are expected to commit to an eight (8) week term of service. The schedule for the program is 20 hours per week to be arranged with the sponsoring departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: • Must have completed two (2) years at a qualified academic institution in good standing. • Possess at least a 3.0 G.P.A. Ideal Candidate: We are looking for highly motivated students with a sincere desire to be mentored in the area of municipal government. The ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, and proactive.

The Los Angeles Gateway Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer organization of business, industrial and professional people working to improve business and promote the economics and welfare of the community. The main function of the chamber is to represent Harbor City/Harbor Gateway business and all local residents, at every level of government by supporting beneficial legislation and opposing unnecessary or detrimental legislation.
The Los Angeles Gateway Chamber of Commerce (LAGCC) is committed to helping you nurture your professional development opportunities. That's why we are creating a new initiative to link college students to the professional world through career development, community involvement, and access to working professionals. The LAGCC Board of Director's (LAGCC BOD) is devoted to promoting leaders of tomorrow by extending their know-how to students today.
