Adding, Dropping or Auditing a Class

The Los Angeles Harbor College Admissions & Records office is here for you before, during, and after your time at Harbor. Whether you are preparing for transfer to a four-year college or university, seeking an occupational degree or certificate, or taking classes to improve skills or investigate a new career, we are pleased that you have chosen Los Angeles Harbor College (LAHC)

Our admissions area is the first stop for new students, reviewing 8,000+ applications each year. We will help you during your time at LAHC and will maintain your student records after your departure from the college.

 

Add Classes

Once classes begin, LAHC will continue to accept applications for admission. If there are seats available in a class section, the instructor may issue an add code to students which will allow a student to self-enroll into the course using MYCollege.laccd.

If an instructor gives you permission to add a class, he or she will give you a Permission Number. The Permission numbers are unique 4 - 6 digit numbers created specifically for the respective course. Permission Number can only be used once.

Permission Codes are not valid after the last date to add. After the add deadline, you must have documented extenuating circumstances to add a class. Extenuating circumstances is defined as verified cases of accidents, illness, or other life changing events beyond the control of the student.

To add a Continuing Education (non-credit) class, please obtain an add form from the instructor. Continuing Education courses do not require an add code.

 

Drop Classes

You may drop a class by using MYCollege.laccd until the LAST DAY to withdrawal deadline. If you drop your class prior to the deadline drop before grade, no record will appear on your transcript for that class.

If you drop a class after the drop deadline for a grade BUT before the withdrawal deadline, a W will appear on your transcript as a grade. Please check course repetition policy for information on how a withdrawal can affect you when repeating courses.

You cannot drop a class after the LAST DAY to withdrawal deadline. A final grade will be issued if you do not drop a class prior to the withdrawal deadline. Refer to the course calendar in your student portal for each courses respective deadlines.  It is the students' responsibility to know the deadlines dates for each of your courses.

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration. If you do not pay your fees, you will be dropped from your class(es). You are responsible for dropping your classes if you no longer plan to attend.

 

Audit Classes

The governing board of the Los Angeles Community College District has authorized the auditing of credit classes at LAHC pursuant to Ed Code 76370.

  1. Payment of a fee of $15 per unit.  Students enrolled in classes to receive credit for ten or more semester units shall not be charged a fee to audit three or fewer semester units per semester.
  2. No student auditing a course shall be permitted to change his/her enrollment in that course to receive credit for the course.
  3. Priority in class enrollment shall be given to students desiring to take the course for credit.

Course auditing is permitted as a service to students who have completed designated credit courses for the maximum number of allowed repeats.

Classes taken by audit follow the same deadline dates as classes taken for credit.
